A place to unwind.

Psalm 87 vs.1

"His foundation is in the holy mountains".

Gestalt Therapy is to align ourselves with the intention of healing the body, mind & spirit.

Holistic Health is still the focus at Spine Grove since it's inception in 2004.

The path of the wounded healer:

I was employed as a ski instructor by 7 Springs ski area at age 16, then joined the National Ski Patrol at age 18. I also loved travels with my high school ski club to Colorado. Fracturing 3 vertebrae at age 17, while on a private ski trip to Vail, CO... made me elect to become a regular client of massage + chiropractic care.

As the founder of Spine Grove, my name is Carrie Murphy. Originally raised near Pittsburgh, PA... I moved out West in 1992. Inspired to pursue a life on top of the bigger, better, steeper & deeper mountains of Colorado. Here I discovered that I could become a licensed massage therapist & have the versatility to work in holistic health establishments like: chiropractic centers, acupuncture offices, physical therapy wards, recreation centers, midwifery clinics, hot springs retreats, hotel spas & free-lance at outdoor sports events, music festivals, etc. Having first hand experience of how massage & chiropractic sessions alleviated my pain symptoms, I felt drawn to work in this realm of healing.

I received my Holistic Health Practitioner certification from Heartwood Holistic Health Institute in 1994. I liked California but moved back to Steamboat Springs immediately because I had 5 different locations that wanted to hire me. I worked at both of the hot springs there, a chiropractic center, an acupuncture clinic, plus had my position at various hotel spas.

5 years later, I was offered a position at "The Peaks Resort & Spa" in Telluride, CO. Moving to Southwest Colorado was remote & I loved living in towns with 1 streetlight! Not only did I meet the rich & famous patrons of the Peaks Spa... I met amazing people from all over the world. One of my connections influenced me to subsequently move to Big Sur, California. This job offer included a massage therapy position with a property management opportunity.

I already maintained a State of California massage license because my National Exam was taken in California. I also worked seasonally for "Bill Grahm Presents" events during summer music festivals. I began Caretaking the 60 acre ranch, for one of the massage instructors at the famous hot springs retreat, "Eselen Institute". She had 14 llamas, countless birds, goats & various pets. Ranch hand work exchange for “off the grid” accommodations. I worked at various resorts, retreats, hotels, festivals & held an office space for approximately 4 years.

Then I met my future X husband, had a baby & got married! My son was born in Santa Cruz, California in 2003. I had to settle down with my new family. Mountain bike racing, was how my husband had led me to many coastal regions of Northern California. I only rode for recreation after becoming a mother. I am proud to have raced on my Moots in Telluride & Steamboat Colorado. I sponsored local race events, by donating gift certificates for prizes, raffles & recognition.

I moved near a resort entwined between renowned mountain biking trails, called "Pine Grove", in Cobb Mountain, California. I pitched a proposal to renovate one of their rental cabins, into a full service spa/salon. They accepted my plans & I hired construction workers to gut the 100 year old cabin. Now being equipped as a full service spa/salon (with an infrared sauna, handicap accessible bathroom, plus I had installed a hair stylists station & offered pedicures as well). This kept me thinking that my clientele wouldn't catch on to my true skill set. As I brought a chiropractor & an Acupuncturist, to take appointments there on certain days. I wanted to name my new establishment something unique. A name that lends itself toward spinal centered therapy. "SPINE GROVE" rang true after days of consideration. I kept that location for 5 years but always yearned to move Spine Grove, to Colorado.

In 2008 I relocated Spine Grove, as well as our family, to Breckenridge, CO. I first signed a lease for a massage treatment room from Breckenridge Acupuncture/Morning Star Wellness Center. As my lease ended, I discovered the perfect little Victorian cottage on S. Ridge St. Downtown, in the historical arts district. This being the former location of the "Sacred Tree Day Spa", their logo made a real correlation for my insignia, the bonsai tree with the spinal cord trunk. I remained at the location till 2012.

Many of you may remember this former location for Spine Grove because of our seasonal art parties with live music & free o’devoirs? I participated in the arts district gallery theme, by exhibiting/showing /selling paintings from local artists... decorating the interior walls of the building. I switched exhibitors seasonally, celebrating a variety of artistic styles. I also rented treatment rooms to chiropractors & acupuncturists.

Co-Creating an establishment of females in the health care & spa/salon industry, remains my focus. I’ve joined forces with several locations in Summit County… Meridian Spa, Alpine Spa, Breck Body Bar, Atma Prema Day Spa, as well as Age Well skin care, I intend to remain conveniently located as a small holistic health center/spa co-op, of Summit County, Colorado.

In hopes of success, I opened an additional store, in 2010, on the corner of Jefferson & S.Main Street. I named it, "The Good life Boutique" & Bargain Exchange. Our mission statement was: "Give & Let Live". I stayed open for 3 years.

If you are a client that is currently looking for me because I don’t work at various prior locations, here is a list of where people may have received healing sessions from me in the past:

In 2011, I became a first time home owner, in Blue River, CO. I have an “Air BnB” and dubbed my Bed and Breakfast, the "Great Divide BnB". I offered Spine Grove services there also. My home office is lovely. My website for overnight guests was: GreatDivideBnB.com

I sold that BnB in 2022 & am currently looking for another BnB location.
